Can+ or Can Plus Visitor Visa Category

CAN+ is a program by the Government of Canada run for Visitor Visa applicants. This program allows for expediting the processing for visitors, who have traveled to the USA or Canada in the last 10 years, or who have a valid unused US visa. CAN+ ensures faster processing with fewer required documents. This frees up the visa officers, making quick decisions on these cases, and giving more attention to other (maybe complicated) cases.

Indians are eligible to apply under CAN+ or CAN PLUS category.

An applicant himself/herself cannot apply for his/her application to be processed under CAN+. The concerned visa office will decide so, subject to satisfying all the eligibility conditions. Thus, one must apply as normal.

How do I know that my application can be processed under CAN+ or CAN PLUS ? What supporting documents should I submit?

Visa application centres will screen all applications for CAN+ eligibility. Applications that show that the applicant travelled to Canada in the last 10 years or holds a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa will be sent to the visa office for expedited processing.

Check the document checklist for full details of what you need to submit with your application.

Is there a different application form for CAN+ or CAN PLUS?

No. Simply apply for a visitor visa online or on paper.

For paper applications, check the document checklist for full details of what you need to submit with your application.

Please note:

  • Visa application centres are not involved in the visa decision-making process and can’t provide advice to applicants.
  • All decisions on applications are made by visa officers at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada visa offices.
  • Applications that meet the criteria will also be processed faster.
